Monastery of Evangelistria

One of the most famous monasteries on the island, the Monastery of Evangelistria can be admired only 4 km east of the Skopelos capital on the Palouki mountain. It is a Byzantine construction from the 18th century with huge fortification dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Its architectural solution will catch your attention at the first sight with an interesting combination of the bare walls of the fortification into which the snow-white facade of the religious buildings is permeating. In the surroundings of the monastery, you can relish the splendid view on the coast and the island capital.
