Ermones Resort

Ermones is a small resort on the north-west coast of Corfu. It is located in a small bay, surrounded by picturesque hilly landscape and turquoise sea. The resort offers perfect conditions especially for families with children and couples, since it belongs to the calm resorts on the island. This is also reflected in the type of accommodation provided by local suites and hotels. In the village of Vatos located about 3 km from the resort, you will also find a completely equipped camping site. There is also a supermarket in case you prefer to prepare your meals on your own. 

Ermones beach

The beach in Ermones is a sandy one with an admixture of pebbles. On its edges, there are rocks and stones. Yet it is very clean and easily accessible, and therefore also suitable for children. Like in most quality resorts, here you can also borrow deckchairs to idle on the beach inthe afternoon. There are also showers and toilets available. If you are of a romantic nature, you can rent a boat or a paddling boat and set off to the wide sea to explore the close surroundings. You can also try diving also windsurfing. Near the beach, you can buy a refreshing summer drink or a bite to eat in some of the tavernas nearby changing into night bars after the sunset. As the beach is located in the foothills of a steep rock dominated by hotel complexes, a small cableway has been built there, taking the hotels guests to the beach and back. The fans of sports will be certainly delighted by the fact that there is a luxury golf complex located close to the resort. The small beach in the direction of Sidari is unoficially a nudist one.

What to do in Ermones?

South of Ermones, you will find the famous resort of Glyfada (about 5 minutes drive by car) with a beautiful sandy beach, A bit further in the north (about a 10 minutes drive by car), you can visit the Monastery of Virgin Mary of Paleokastritsa from the 13th century. It is said th be a place of the Virgin Mary´s apparition, and so, the sanctuary has been built there. The edifice you can see in the place nowadays comes from the 18th century when a significant reconstruction took place. Inside you can find a small museum with mainly religious artefacts and more artistic objects like paintings, monk vestments or articles used for wine and olive oil production. From the outside, you can admire an interesting bell tower or visit the monastery garden and feast your eyes on the view on the bay. There is also a refreshment facility and parking for free. If you want to see the life of the locals untouched by tourism with your own eyes, visit some of the vilages in the surroundings. Here you can taste local specialities in a taverna, observing the hustle all around. If you like water pleasures, visit the nearby water park in Aghios Ioannis. The roads on the north.west of Corfu don´t pass along the coast, and so they offer the possibility to get to know the life in the island interior. For a trip along the coast, you should better go on a boat.
